The two-color fallback

One matching color: If you drafted for two colors but only have a commander with one of those colors and no others, you may add the other color to your deck’s color identity.

Neither color covered: If no monocolored commander covers either chosen color, you may add both colors and play without a commander.

Declare it: Announce added colors as commanders are revealed. This does not change the commander’s own color identity.

Before the game

  • Confirm the event uses MBC Commander Draft.
  • Count the complete deck, including commander(s).
  • Check commander eligibility and any partner pairing.
  • Declare fallback colors, if applicable.
  • Ask the organizer about unusual card text before play.

Rulebreaker changes only the restrictions its text names. It does not automatically waive other deckbuilding rules.
